Outpatient operations

Gentle outpatient ENT procedures — largely without nasal packing, thanks to Celon bipolar radiofrequency.

No tamponade, minimally invasive, outpatient — whenever medically appropriate, we rely on tissue-sparing techniques such as the Celon method. The surgery is performed at the Kopfklinik Frankfurt, and we handle the follow-up care back in Rüsselsheim.

When do patients come to see us?

These are the symptoms we most commonly evaluate at our clinic:

Enlarged turbinates

Chronic nasal congestion despite medication — relief with the Celon method (bipolar radiofrequency), without the need for a nasal pack.

Deviated nasal septum

Septoplasty for straightening — significantly improves nasal breathing; can often be combined with turbinate reduction in a single procedure.

Polyps and chronic sinusitis

Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) — a minimally invasive procedure that restores natural sinus drainage.

Surgeries for Snoring and Sleep Apnea

Palatal tightening, tonsillectomy/tonsillotomy, reduction of the base of the tongue — Indications strictly based on sleep medicine diagnostics.

Here's how the examination works at our clinic

A structured process from the initial consultation to a concrete treatment plan—you’ll always know what comes next.

  1. Consultation

We’ll discuss with you whether surgery is really the right choice for your symptoms—including alternatives, the chances of success, and the risks. No pressure to have surgery.

  2. Preliminary investigations and fact-finding

Endoscopy, imaging (DVT/CT) if necessary, pre-anesthesia consultation, blood tests. You will be given the informed consent form to take home and read in advance.

  3. Surgery at the Frankfurt Head Clinic

The procedure is performed at the Surgical Center of the Kopfklinik Frankfurt—which features state-of-the-art equipment and a highly experienced team. The surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, and you will be able to go home after a few hours of observation.

  4. Aftercare at our facility in Rüsselsheim

First follow-up visit 24–48 hours after surgery, followed by additional appointments to monitor wound healing and for endoscopy. If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to call us.

Diagnostics and Methods

  • Celon Method (bipolar radiofrequency)Minimally invasive volume reduction of the turbinates and soft palate — typically without the need for packing, short recovery time, minimal post-operative pain.
  • Functional endoscopic sinus surgeryMinimally invasive, navigation-guided — restoration of natural sinus drainage.
  • SeptoplastyStraightening of the nasal septum — a modern technique involving small incisions in the mucous membrane, leaving no visible external scars.
  • Tonsillectomy and tonsillotomyComplete or partial tonsillectomy — the choice depends on the indication; in children, a less invasive tonsillotomy is often performed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly does “outpatient surgery” mean?
You arrive at the clinic in the morning, undergo preparation and surgery, and stay for a few hours for observation. If you are awake, pain-free, and in stable condition, you will go home the same day—no hospital stay is necessary.
Do I need someone to pick me up?
Yes, absolutely. After general anesthesia, you must not drive or take public transportation home on your own. Please arrange for someone to accompany you for the first 24 hours—you should not be alone at home either.
Who covers the cost of outpatient surgery?
If the procedure is medically necessary, both public and private health insurance plans will cover the full cost of the surgery. We will discuss any out-of-pocket costs (e.g., optional services) with you in advance in a transparent manner. For purely cosmetic procedures without a medical indication, the surgery is considered a self-pay service.
How long does it take to heal?
This varies greatly depending on the procedure. Turbinate reduction: 3–5 days. Septoplasty or FESS: 7–14 days of sick leave; complete healing of the mucous membranes takes 4–6 weeks. Tonsillectomy: 10–14 days of recovery time. We will discuss your specific recovery process before the surgery.
