Chronic sinusitis, adenoids, and recurrent nasal congestion—we identify the cause using endoscopy and imaging and provide conservative or surgical treatment in collaboration with the Head Clinic in Frankfurt.
When do patients come to see us?
These are the symptoms we most commonly evaluate at our clinic:
Recurrent sinusitis
Several episodes of acute sinusitis per year or a transition to a chronic form lasting more than three months—time for a structured evaluation.
Persistent difficulty breathing through the nose
A stuffy nose despite using decongestant sprays, often on one side only—may indicate enlarged turbinates, a deviated septum, or adenoids.
Disorders of smell and taste
A decline in the sense of smell, often gradual—common in cases of nasal polyps, and sometimes following viral infections. A thorough diagnostic evaluation provides clarity.
A feeling of pressure and pain in the face
Pain in the forehead, cheeks, or around the eyes, often worsening when bending over—a typical symptom of sinusitis. We’ll determine which sinuses are affected by the inflammation.
Here's how the examination works at our clinic
A structured process from the initial consultation to a concrete treatment plan—you’ll always know what comes next.
Medical history and progression of symptoms
We ask about the duration of symptoms, triggers, previous treatments, and allergy history—chronic sinusitis and adenoids are often linked to allergies.
Nasal endoscopy
Using thin, flexible or rigid endoscopes, we examine the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses in detail to assess the condition of the mucous membranes, secretions, and the presence of polyps.
Imaging as needed
For chronic conditions or prior to scheduled surgery: digital volume tomography (DVT) or CT in collaboration with local radiology practices.
Treatment Plan
Depending on the findings: nasal corticosteroid sprays, antibiotics, allergy treatment, nasal irrigation—and if conservative measures have been exhausted, functional endoscopic sinus surgery may be indicated.
Diagnostics and Methods
- High-resolution nasal endoscopyFlexible and rigid endoscopes with video recording — you can view the findings on the screen at the same time, making the explanation easier to understand.
- Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS)A gentle, minimally invasive procedure to restore natural sinus drainage. Performed on an outpatient basis at the Kopfklinik Frankfurt.
- Septoplasty (nasal septum correction)Straightening a deviated nasal septum to improve breathing — usually without packing, using the Celon method.
- Nasal Turbinate Reduction with CelonBipolar radiofrequency method — gentle reduction of enlarged inferior turbinates, performed on an outpatient basis, without traditional nasal packing.
